Arian is a small place on Tigran Mets. If you don't know it's there, you can easily walk right past without noticing the steps down to the basement. What we found: two rooms with paintings and an unusual interior — a Belarus piano, an old film camera and other curious things from the 20th century. The menu is short; a staff member told us straight away which dishes were available. One important thing: the team doesn't speak Russian, so it's English only. Small as it is, Arian wins you over with a calm vibe and tasty and, just as importantly, huge portions — I ordered one kebab and managed a third of it. Filling and delicious!

Sides and starters include saffron rice, shirazi salad, seasonal salad, green olives, and yogurt dishes mast-o-musir and mast-o-khiar, all between 1000-2500֏. Drinks run simple — Pepsi, Miranda, lemonade, water, tea, and Turkish coffee — plus hookah at 5000֏. Portions are large enough that a single kebab order can go a long way, making it suited to travelers or expats after a filling, calm meal rather than a quick bite. Average check runs around 3500 AMD.
